Road Block

As the sun started to set on our first day in Yellowstone, we headed to the Lamar Valley - an area known for its abundant wildlife.  This guy was hanging around a viewpoint along the way.

And this guy was hanging around near Roosevelt Lodge.

In the Lamar Valley

And then the bison herd decided to cross the road.  And re-cross the road.  And mosey down the road.  And snort.  And scuffle.  All while we were trapped, parked.  Afraid to move.  Afraid we would piss one off!

Then the largest of the bulls decided to check us out - passing within 7-8' of the car window.  We were holding our breath.  He could have easily done lots of damage to our rental car!

Wow-ee!!  What a way to end our first day!!

  1. Hi, We are home from Texas --so I'm trying to catch up a bit... I love seeing your Yellowstone Experience since it is so much like ours... We even took a hike one day --and a bison was 'grazing' next to us... We quietly passed him... That's never happened to us before... ha

    Hugs,
